Sites may require environmental testing for any number of reasons, such as buying, selling, financing, leasing or operating a site with a Certificate of Property Use (CPU), in Ontario. When a testing program is required, an experienced, specialized team will develop and execute an efficient program, designed to address your needs and goals.
Through surface and subsurface soil testing, surface water analysis, groundwater sampling, and vapour analysis, the current environmental condition of your site can be assessed, characterized and documented.

Through our use of on-site testing, AEL is at the forefront of technology in environmental engineering innovations in Ontario.
Using X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF), Ultraviolet Fluorescence (UVF), Gas Chromatography – Mass Spectrometry (GC/MS), and other tools, we can efficiently screen a high quantity of samples within minutes. Select samples are then forwarded for laboratory analysis at a certified CALA laboratory.
Screening data supplies our team with a quick and accurate data about sub-surface contamination present on-site. It creates a more accurate understanding of site conditions, to reduce the risks, cost and time associated with over or under-remediating.

When it comes to quality assurance and quality control procedures, we offer an industry-leading approach to site sampling. Our Standard Operating Procedures for handling potentially contaminated samples include:
- Trip blanks
- Field duplicates
- Blind Quality Control (QC) samples
- Barcodes in descriptive labelling to prevent out-of-sequence or erroneous data
Environmental samples are highly sensitive—one sampling protocol slip, laboratory error or cross contamination event can appear as a false positive, leading to unnecessary retesting, legal interventions or even remediation.
