Environmental and Mapping Services for Public Sectors
AEL supports public sector clients through a variety of environmental services for existing buildings and land development projects.
The most common services AEL provides include:
- Phase One Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs)
- Phase Two ESAs
- Soil and Groundwater Remediation
- Record of Site Condition (RSC) applications
- Building Condition Assessments (BCAs)
- Asset Retirement Obligation (ARO) planning
In addition to the above services, AEL also provides multiple value-add services.
One such service is the addition of Unmanned Aerial Vehicle mapping (UAV, also called “drone”) to a project, which can give a full perspective of the topography of the site. AEL’s data visualization tools can tie data into these maps in a way that is simple to understand, allowing you to make confident decisions based on the site’s real conditions.
Other value-add services include testing of drinking water or carrying out Building Condition Assessments or Building Hygiene Assessments during a Phase One or Two ESA, etc. Value-add services are batched into a single site visit, generating more information and value for the client at a fraction of the time and cost.
For a municipality pursuing new development or managing a closed or open landfill, AEL bundles mapping services, permitting, regulatory compliance sampling, monitoring, planning, etc. to be cost effective. A landfill requires accurate volume calculations and on-the-ground monitoring/sampling for regulatory reporting and to forecasting the remaining lifespan of the landfill. Aerial surveys can be carried out simultaneously with monitoring and sampling to reduce the amount of time that is needed for data collection while providing highly accurate data. AEL’s data visualization tools can even give extra insight into the condition of the site and lead to a better understanding of problems the landfill may be encountering or predict issues before they occur.
AEL also provides design and review of plans for public sector ESAs, remediation, risk assessments, hydrogeological assessments, and other environmental work. AEL’s staff of professional engineers and geoscientists are Qualified Persons (QP) under Ontario Regulation 153/04 and are specifically qualified for review and design of environmental work plans.
