Remote/Isolated Projects
How much does an Environmental Site Assessment cost?

AEL Is Your Trusted Partner for Environmental Solutions in Remote Canadian Locations.

In the vast expanses of Canada’s remote regions, breathtaking landscapes meet unique environmental challenges. From dense forests to rugged mountains, these areas are home to abundant natural resources but also require careful stewardship to protect their delicate ecosystems.

With decades of on-site experience in environmental assessments and remote remediation, AEL is your go-to partner for navigating the complexities of these remote environments. Our team combines unparalleled expertise with a deep understanding of the environmental landscape in Canada’s most isolated areas.

Whether you’re facing challenges related to assessing, monitoring, or remediation, we’re here to help. From coordinating logistics for remote access to navigating short seasons or extreme weather conditions, we have the knowledge and resources to tackle even the most complex environmental issues.

Our team of environmental professionals is equipped to handle everything from regulatory compliance to community engagement, ensuring that initiatives are not only effective but also sustainable for the long term.

Transforming Remote Operations with On-Site Testing

On-site testing allows the team to analyze soil samples within minutes to accurately define boundaries and make decisions effectively with a high level of confidence. The resulting volume and associated costs of remediation are minimized using this methodology, lessening potential liabilities and shortening the time to backfilling of excavation areas in sensitive locations. AEL is one of the few environmental firms in Canada to routinely use on-site technology, enabling a more targeted approach to site remediation.

Environmental Site Assessments in Remote Canadian Locations

From coordinating the logistics in remote access to extreme weather conditions during short operational seasons, environmental site assessments in remote locations can be physically challenging, but this approach is often necessary in order to adequately assess and understand a site.

A site assessment provides property owners or managers of remote locations with the ability to evaluate the condition of their site. Once a detailed environmental site assessment process has taken place, the professional can make recommendations for tailored remediation solutions based on factors such as budget, any specific property concerns, and the end goals for the property.

An assessment solution at a remote location includes the on-site visit and evaluation by an environmental engineer and/or scientist. These professionals can perform tasks such as mapping and GIS services, in addition to on-site testing, as required. Once a clear picture of the current site condition has been obtained and an action plan established, they can prepare necessary reports, track any monitoring, and oversee remediation efforts. They can also act as liaisons between key stakeholders, sharing information through consultations and community meetings.

In-person assessments in remote locations offer advantages like real-time adaptation, precise data collection, regulatory compliance, and skillful implementation, particularly beneficial for complex environmental challenges requiring hands-on expertise.

Remote Remedial Packages

AEL employs proven strategies to ensure remedial targets are met on time and within budget, despite often unpredictable conditions. In-person assessments and direct technical oversight offers benefits such as:

  • Site-Specific Understanding: In-person visits allow for a deeper grasp of site conditions and contamination extent, vital for tailored remediation.
  • Hands-On Implementation: Some techniques, like excavation and bioremediation, require physical execution.
  • Complex Problem Solving: Hands-on assessment is crucial for tackling intricate contamination patterns or geological formations.
  • Public Perception: In-person efforts demonstrate commitment to responsible environmental stewardship, essential for sensitive projects.

AEL offers remedial design and implementation expertise for both in-situ and ex-situ remediation options, including bioremediation and on-site screening. Partnering with AEL provides dedicated account management, access to experienced professional engineers and industry-leading technology to efficiently and effectively mitigate risk and restore your property value.

Choose AEL as your trusted partner for environmental solutions in Canada’s remote regions. Together, we can protect the land’s natural resources for future generations while helping you achieve your property goals.

Tailored Solutions: AEL’s Success Story at a Remote Northern Ontario Facility

At AEL, we pride ourselves on our ability to tailor solutions to the unique needs of each location, such as our work at a remote, decommissioned microwave tower facility in Northern Ontario.

The goal of the project was the restoration and return of the land leased to the client by the local First Nation community. To meet the unique constraints of the project, AEL developed a custom soil management plan based around high frequency and affordable on-site testing certified by low-frequency laboratory analysis. This management strategy reduced delays and costs, allowing the project to be completed under-budget within 18 months of AEL’s first arrival onsite.
